MacDonald Jewellery on Trounce Alley. Here jeweler Ian Horridge (right) and Ian MacDonald work with a customer (seated). Trounce alley is a diverse micro hub where old-world businesses coexist alongside hip new shops and restaurants, none of which disrupt the pathway’s quaint charm.
Trounce Alley is a discrete passage connecting two main thoroughfares in downtown Victoria, British Columbia. It has a long history as a commercial strip, albeit a tiny one. It goes back to the mid-1800s when developer and architect Thomas Trounce designed the lane to provide easy access to stores he owned.
