3/3/2006--Bagneux, France..The apartment building where 23-year-old Jewish cell phone salesman Ilan Halimi was held for three weeks in the southern Paris suburb of Bagneux, after being kidnapped. The building is part of the Pierre-Plate housing project...Halimi was lured by a 17-year-old French girl of Iranian descent who left him in the hands of a group of multiethnic immigrants who call themselves the Barbarians. Mr. Halimi, who was dumped, naked and covered with cigarette burns, near a suburban train station in the southern Paris suburb of Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois, died on his way to the hospital on Feb. 13. Police suspect he was kidnapped because he was Jewish but it remains unclear whether anti-Semitism was the motive for the grisly killing, which may have been part of an extortion racket..Photograph By Stuart Isett. All photographs ©2006 Stuart Isett. All rights reserved.
