“Puffin”, a little steam launch built in 1906, is one of the most popular boats at the Center for Wooden Boats on Seattle’s Lake Union and is maintained almost exclusively by volunteers. It has taken thousands of visitors on free Sunday tours of Lake Union since the mid 1990s.

Puffin is a picky boat when it comes to burning wood. To get the most fire power, volunteers feed the boiler with fine hardwoods donated by Dusty Springs, a local manufacturer of harps and violins.
