Rising construction costs rooted in material cost and oil prices have forced cities to scale back on construction and renovation of roadways and bridges...The city of Newcastle is forcing through a project to widen and beautify Coal Creak Parkway in an effort to attract commuters to this suburb of Seattle because it felt that waiting would only widen the gap between the ambitious project and the funds needed to complete it.
