December 14, 2002, Matsumoto, Japan: The red foot bridge leading into Matsumoto Castle. Unlike European castles, which are usually made of stone, Matsumoto's 98 foot tall structure, one of four Japanese castles officially designated as National Treasures, is almost entirely made of wood. The building can be seen from almost anywhere in the central city, which makes finding it simple. Photograph by Stuart Isett ©2002 Stuart Isett All rights reserved. Credit: Stuart Isett / Polaris
