Shyamnath Gollakota, 28, assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering Networks and Wireless Lab at the University of Washington, posing in the Paul G. Allen Center where his lab is located.<br />

Gollakota is working on "battery-free devices that communicate with each other, without either device generating radio signals of their own. Instead these devices implement a new technique called ambient backscatter that uses existing wireless signals from TV stations to both power the device and communicate by reflecting the TV signals" (SOURCE: Shyamnath Gollakota). <br />
