Bobby is arrested for assault at a party on Chicago's south side. Known as the Loco Boyz, in the 1990s about thirty to forty young Cambodian teenagers had formed a gang in Uptown Chicago in response to attacks from well established neighborhood gangs. Although the lives of these gang members are not typical of most Cambodian-Americans' lives, their lives do illustrate a tragic irony that many Cambodians have experienced; the irony of living through Cambodia's violent history only to escape to a similar life in gangs here on the streets of American cities.
