The flagship store at 101, avenue des Champs Elysees has been redecorated and enlarged at an undisclosed cost. ..About 300 VIPs, including Hollywood stars Sharon Stone and Uma Thurman and French actress Catherine Deneuve, attended the official opening before American designer Marc Jacobs unveils his ready-to-wear spring-summer 2006 collection for Louis Vuitton. Behind the face-lift are US architects Eric Carlson and Peter Marino who sought to create a feeling of the famous promenade along the Champs Elysees continuing into the store...Throughout, it has features alluding to aspects of the fabled Champs Elysees such as brown and beige limestone flooring which echoes the paving stones on the street outside. Features include a light sculpture by American James Turrell, a 20-metre (65 feet) long "travelling staircase" showcasing the work of American video artist Tim White-Sobieski and an elevator linking the store to the top floor by Denmark's Olafur Eliasson..Photograph By Stuart Isett. All photographs ©2005 Stuart Isett. All rights reserved.
